Rumour: Star Citizen Migrating to Unreal Engine
Eagle-eyed gamers have noticed that Unreal Engine components are now being installed with the latest version of Star Citizen.


In development now for an entire decade, Star Citizen is still in a pre-alpha state, and every build to date has been made with a heavily modified version of CryEngine 3.
Thus far Cloud Imperium has proven unable to deliver on their promises of colossal starship battles in a living universe filled with thousands of players and millions of NPC AIs, and there have been rumours for years now that in order to actually realise his grand vision Chris Roberts would be forced to migrate production to a new game engine, most likely Unreal.
Now there appears to be concrete evidence of this. Can an official announcement be far away?
Jeff Minter Hints At New Retro Projects
Jeff Minter (Revenge of the Mutant Camels, Tempest 2000) has hinted that in addition to his products for contemporary platforms he may soon create an entirely new game for a vintage system.

Considering that Minter cut his teeth on iconic home computers such as the VIC-20 and the C64, it's quite possible that he's currently noodling around in 6502 assembly, working an an all-new 8-bit creation; the culmination of four decades of game dev experience.
