In space, no-one can hear you make excuses...
SpaceVenture – Sluggish Kickstarter Success Nears Completion
One of the earliest big Kickstarter success stories is finally emerging from development hell. The delivery date for this spiritual successor to Space Quest was originally set for February 2013, but the devs are asking for just a little more time before delivering Two Guys From Andromeda SpaceVenture to their aging and apoplectic fan base.
A few things I want to make clear. We really appreciate all of you and your patience. We realize some of you are very upset and are chomping at the bits ready for this game to be released. We hear you and you have every right to feel the way you do. All we can say is that this game is going to come out. Not releasing this game is not an option. Please realize we are SO close to the finish line here. All of us have dedicated so much energy, blood, sweat, tears, and not to mention family time to get this game done. There have just been a lot of set backs in this project beyond anyone's control. This is not about making excuses, just stating some facts. Regardless, SpaceVenture is absolutely going to get released!
The latest blocker is the save/load system, which astute readers will recall was also a challenge for the developer of Yandere Simulator.
Judging by the wording of their latest Kickstarter update, the Two Guys From Andromeda might finally be delivering their new crowd-funded point-and-click adventure by early 2022, an entire nine years late. That might sound bad, but it's still a faster development cycle than Star Citizen.
GHPC – Spiritual Successor to M1 Tank Platoon Gets Major Update
A major update just dropped for 'Gunner, HEAT, PC!', a brand new tank game that hopes to evoke the MicroProse era of military simulations for a new century and a new audience.
Gunner, HEAT, PC! was started by tank nerds, driven by our experiences playing tank games. We remember the well crafted sim-lite titles from decades past, and we think there's a place for that kind of game again. GHPC is not another free-to-play arena TDM game, and it's not a full-blown simulator you need a manual and a week of training to use. We intend to fuse game and simulation in a way that preserves player experience yet doesn't sacrifice on realism where it really counts.
The developers don't explicitly state that GHPC is a spiritual successor to M1 Tank Platoon, but I would wager it was a big inspiration, given the focus of the latest update.
This is a major update, introducing the platoon system and several other improvements.
The platoon system allows small groups of vehicles to move and fight as a unit, sharing responsibilities and information. They are better at finding targets, reacting to attacks, and more. Attacking a platoon, even from the flank, may prove quite challenging. With this update, most missions in the Point Alpha map have been updated to include platoons.

Cruelty Squad Acolyte Creating Bizarre Cyberpunk Space Game
One of the alpha testers of Cruelty Squad is now working on two of his own ambitious game projects, both utilising a harsh aesthetic of unusual polygon shapes and vivid, sickening colours.
The basic pitch is: Disco Elysium+System Shock.
People on twitter have been asking about the basic premise so here it is: You are saboteur sent by EarthGov to infiltrate, subvert, and ultimately decide the fate of a space habitat full of depraved cyborgs, clones, and 200 year old billionaires who want to upload their brains into computers in defiance of Gödel and all reason--All through social manipulation, hacking, and the use of a computer made out of repurposed bits of your own brain matter.
This game, with the working title of NyTavangen is going to be a 1st person RPG developed with Godot and Twine.
The second project you'll be seeing updates for is CRAWLER, (working title) a dungeon crawler set in an alternate science fiction world where you play the part of an armed parasite in a biomechanical, alien arcology.
Cruelty Squad creator Ville Kallio has endorsed his disciple's new venture, implying that those hungry for more Cruelty Squad-esque action will find NyTavangen and CRAWLER to their liking.
